- I like poems that:
- Have a definite rhythm
- Use natural words in natural order
- Have comprehensible and interesting content
- Use vivid diction and imagery
- Have a strong ending
- Rhyme, if well done, is a big plus.
- I don’t believe in prose poetry.
- I prefer grief to grievance, Confucius to Aristotle, and Millay to Bishop.
- I don’t like poems about writing poems, or poems lamenting the sorry state of the poetry world.
- Come as you are.
