Bagpipes

Bagpipes make me want to cry.
They just pierce me through and through.
I don’t know the reason why
bagpipes make me want to cry,
take up arms, and fight, and die!
Do they work the same for you?
Bagpipes make me want to cry.
They just pierce me through and through.

Bagpipes are not in my blood,
yet they do that all the same.
There’s no reason why they should.
Bagpipes are not in my blood.
I wouldn’t march off to some wood
to support some Chieftain’s claim.
Bagpipes are not in my blood.
Still, they stir me all the same.

Stir me so my heart beats fast,
tears start up. I’m in a state!
I am living in some past,
stirred until my heart beats fast.
When they start, the die is cast!
Primed to march, I cannot wait.
Hear it? How my heart beats fast!
Tears start up. I’m in a state!

Bagpipes make me want to cry.
I don’t know the reason why.

When they start, I’m in a state.

Primed to march, I cannot wait!
