Whatever Happened to Footloose ? I can still hear Don't You Forget About Me playing in a smoky pub Somewhere in my minds' eye there must have been a place Somewhere in so many minds the motliest crew All those diamonds who wanted to shine so badly Towards a quarterlife 90s Doldrum Prozac Nation mourning Kurt Still they're out there somewhere and whisper for our attention There's still a club for every misfit ugly duckling who never knew their place Yet still painted in every colour that delighted them All my colours posed moodily beneath Merseyside clouds in their Crombie coats Never forgotten and they never forgot about me Our remembrances found their tables to stand on (Our captain is still our captain) The undanced dance will unleash the footloose Remember me? Slowly we change again I am one who never forgot Credits fade to black, the last note plays Look up beyond the clouds as change comes slowly One Small Note I told you what was going on But you never listened Some did, now the light has fled Sunflower seeds slept as the Goldfinches pecked There was a charm Let it be a talisman to unfear all the fears You paused and looked around just for a little while Spring spreads its quiet music across the silence Take my withered hand A single oakleaf catches the light Night sky calls to the fire Fire calls to every star that waits to burn The brushstrokes swirl along with our thoughts Who needs the old maps anyway? A butterfly thought about flapping a wing Its night time shadow flittered skywards It knew there was a star somewhere A guide for whoever cared to look, wherever they might be In Summer or Spring, Autumn or Winter, warmth, or frost's relentless grip What do we want from one another? An Owl fluffed its feathers on a fencepost See you on whichever side you wish to be on Our thoughts pulled on their dancing shoes They knew the way out was through the door How different the stars looked! They had drawn their own enlightenment from nowhere How many hearts rejoiced, and they knew not why?
