Her eyes are drawn to spiral swirls
as partners take the ballroom floor,
dresses slowly sway around
to match the rhythm of the sound.

Their feet begin to dominate,
couples step in unison,
a quick unfurl with legs that spin
then hands connect and pull back in.

The music starts to hypnotize,
dancers bodies oozing warmth,
their motions rise release in flight
then catch their breath and hold on tight.

Leaning back against the wall
inside the shadows of the room,
she looks blasé but craves a chance,
a rose in bloom she yearns to dance.
