Dove Gray
Dove gray walls and softest yellow light.
White roses in a vase of eggshell white
Set high beyond the reach of little hands.
Framed photographs of moor and meadowland.
A rocking chair with cushions of blue silk,
And nursery smells of lavender and milk.
Embroidered stars, embroidered sun and moon.
A large oak crib that’s seen no sleeping. Soon
The lavender will lose its potency
In preparation and in vacancy.
