This New Day
The geese are heading for the field.
The morning’s calm and clear.
Though darkness grows and nothing’s healed,
the geese are heading for the field.
Who knows what this new day may yield?
Why bow to doubt and fear?
The geese are heading for the field.
The morning’s calm and clear.
There is a crispness to the air,
and all around is bright.
Though there’s foreboding everywhere,
there is a crispness to the air,
a lightness that is ours to share,
though nothing else is light.
There is a crispness to the air,
and all around is bright.
I watch them as they disappear.
I’m glad they have their day,
and also glad that I am here
to watch them as they disappear,
and that this day is calm and clear.
I feel that I can say,
All’s well now, as they disappear.
I’m glad we have this day.
