Peter Venable

The Ghost Ghosted In The Machine

Under the cranial dome —
Hidden beneath brain scans,
Amid white and grey matter
I think, therefore, I am.

I am . . . in my genome?
What is matter? Not mind.
What about mind? No matter:
The soul is left behind.

Peter Venable has written both free and metric, sacred and secular, serious and whimsical verse for over fifty years. He has appeared in Third Wednesday, The Merton Seasonal, The Christian Century, The Society of Classical Poets, Fathom, The Lyric, and others. His fascination with rhyme and meter began in college, absorbing Donne, Milton, Blake et al. His free verse book Jesus Through A Poet’s Lens is available at Amazon and can be visited at petervenable.wordpress.com
