Felicity Teague

Solo Eclipse
Wednesday 12th August 2026

Elsewhere, the crowds are gathering, of course;
I’d be among them if I weren’t unwell,
high on a hill midst windswept grass and gorse –
I still recall the near-ecstatic swell
at Dartington, in ’99, the wave
of awe despite the clouds. I felt the light
that rushed across the land, the glow it gave,
the presence of a primal mystic might.
Today I only have my garden views,
without the sun at 7pm or so;
I do observe, however, changing hues
throughout the trees – and when the radio
starts up Accadia, ‘Into the Dawn’,
I see a squirrel trancing on the lawn.
