No Doubt the Medici

     The historical drama, The Medici, 
     is set in 15th century Florence

Watching The Medici, at once I notice
the men are far too beautiful, as though
it was their looks that got them where they were —
but judging by their portraits, I demur.

So let’s forget about verisimilitude;
instead, we’ll call the casting choices shrewd.
If gorgeousness improved the bottom line,
no doubt the Medici would think it fine.
